Fine hair! Fine hair! What to do with it?
Well, A LOT! I love styling fine hair. Long, short, or mid-length, fine hair can be incredibly versatile, and thanks to some fantastic styling products available today, and, of course, specially designed hair extensions, it’s easier than ever to create stunning looks without weighing down those locks.

In 2022 we’re seeing some gorgeous styles that any fine-haired queen will love. Here are my three favorite styles for fine hair

1. The Wolf Cut

The Wolf Cut has been making big waves since summer 2021, and it continues to do so in 2022. A modern twist on a classic 1970s shag (who doesn’t love those?), this haircut is perfect for those who want a little rockstar attitude in their lives.

Choppy, unblended layers are the key to this look, giving fine hair body, movement and texture.  With the addition of natural hair extensions, the effect is even better as it gives greater range to cut into the hair and create a more dramatic shape, leaving more volume on top and then tapering into the length. You can literally create a mane that cascades like a waterfall, and the more volume you can give to your client’s hair, the more they will be howling like a wolf as they leave the salon.

Voël hair extensions work really well for this look, especially due to the micro-wefts which are only 2.5” long instead of the standard 12”. You can disperse as many or as few as required throughout your client’s natural hair, depending on the effect you’re going for.

This is also true for shorter, more sultry versions of the wolf cut. Starting with just a little extra volume on top, you can use minimal waves and another of this season’s hot trends - curtain bangs - to dial down the drama and create a softer, super-laidback style.

2. Blunt Bob with Bangs

Another of my favorites for fine-haired queens. A blunt bob is fresh, fun with just enough edge to keep people guessing about what kind of gal you are.

Blunt cuts are great for fine hair because the weight of the hair is left to the ends which naturally makes it look thicker. It also protects the hair against breakages and still looks great when air-dried which is one of the best ways to keep hair - and hair extensions - in great shape.

Again, just a few well-placed extensions can give this look an extra kick, especially for clients who love to play with texture, waves and curls or just want some extra volume to keep their hair looking full without having to apply a lot of product.

The key to a great blunt bob is to keep the scissors cutting straight across. The cleaner and more precise the cutting, the greater the definition will be at the end. Bangs cut with the same precision as the bob creates even greater impact, but lighter forehead-skimming bangs can also make this look more youthful.

Either style looks fantastic during any season, while a change in color can give the blunt bob a whole new life.

Voël Hair Studio: My Happy Place - and Yours!

Having my own studio where I get to completely immerse myself in my passion is a dream come true. It truly is my happy place.

3. Long and Layered

A classic luxurious look that never goes out of style, but one that can be hard to get right for fine-haired clients. When it’s not treated or styled properly, long fine hair can quickly lose its enthusiasm, becoming limp and lifeless by evening no matter how well it has been styled in the morning. This can lead to over-washing, over-styling and over use of product. Not good.

I love applying Voël extensions to my clients with this look. They provide a natural lift that gives their hair a new lease of life, giving it body and movement that their natural hair struggles to maintain.

A great tip to keep to keep this style at peak-gorgeousness throughout the day is to use a 1 ¼ inch curling iron to create curls that will relax into waves as the day progresses. This can be done without washing the hair which is healthier for both natural hair and extensions.

This stunningly natural look is always a hot trend, and I love creating it year after year.
